NRF Honors Bochert, LaBarbera
The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin Board of Directors unanimously granted Emeritus status to outgoing board members Linda Bochert of Madison and Outdoor Heritage Education Center Founder Mark LaBarbera of Hazel Green at its December 2 meeting in Madison.
Board Chair David Adam of Franklin praised Bochert’s 21-year history of service, including her early work on the organizations Bylaw and recent comprehensive revisions, as well as chairing the Governance Committee. He noted, “Linda has served as a guiding voice leading the Board in careful deliberation of the major issues. Always thoughtful, patient, and considerate, Linda has been an exemplary leader in the growth and expanding conservation work of the Foundation.”
Former Board Chair Kristine Krause of Fox Point delivered LaBarbera’s nomination, saying, “Mark has served NRF 11 years, mostly in official leadership positions as Treasurer (2015-2018), Vice Chair (2019-2020), and Chair (2021-2022), and has led by example, always offering his perspective in thoughtful terms, giving consideration to the long-term implications. Mark has made a positive difference that will continue to inure to NRF’s benefit long into the future.”
Bochert and LaBarbera both said they intend to spend more time with family and friends enjoying Wisconsin’s great outdoors. OHEC Executive Director Ruth Ann Lee has other plans for some of Mark’s newfound free time!
