OHEC Scholarships Help Natural Resources Students\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

OHEC scholarship\u2019s help support each student recipient\u2019s post-secondary education in natural resources conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n

OHEC scholarship opportunities:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Outdoor Heritage Education Center\u2019s scholarship endowment<\/b>, located at Mound City Bank in Southwest Wisconsin. \u00a0 This endowment base is credited to local hunter and businessman, Keith Buchert of Platteville, WI. <\/span>OHEC scholarship endowment funds will be invested to generate growth and a financial return, with a percentage of the fund\u2019s balance to be paid out each year in scholarships for local students. Recipients will receive $500 paid directly to their account at the college or vocational school where they will study and work toward a natural resources degree. Funds must be used for educational purposes. Natural resources careers include a wide variety of science and other disciplines, including fish and wildlife biologists, botanists, foresters, soil scientists, outdoor communicators, geologists, solid waste managers, air and water specialists, and many more. Eligibility:<\/strong> Scholarship applicants and local school administrators may contact ruthann@OHECyes.org<\/a><\/span> to receive details and updates or click the link for the OHEC Scholarship Application<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>Platteville High School students should contact their guidance counselor who will help screen applications. Scholarship recipients will be selected from applicants not solely on financial need. Scholarships are traditionally awarded in spring of each year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Wisconsin Outdoor Communicators Association (WOCA) and Outdoor Heritage Education (OHEC) Center Scholarship for\u00a0 Students in Outdoor Recreation Communication. <\/b>Wisconsin Outdoor Communicators Association , a longtime partner of OHEC, is an organization of outdoor writers, photographers, videographers and radio, television, social media communicators. Eligibility:<\/b> Open to under-graduate or graduate students enrolled in a Wisconsin-based college or university with an interest in outdoor recreational communication. <\/span>Application Information: https:\/\/wisoutdoorcommunicators.org\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

    3. Midwest Outdoor Heritage Education Expo (MOHEE) Transportation Funding for Schools:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>MOHEE is a FREE event, however we recognize that budgeting for transportation may be a limiting factor. OHEC has received generous, but limited donations to help cover the transportation costs for schools with tight budgets, and without assistance might not be able to attend field trips. Transportation funding available, based on need, and not guaranteed. Funding could also be awarded as a percentage of your total expense. This support is available based on true need. (Transportation funding is reimbursement based.) Eligibility:<\/b> Open to schools that are registered to attend MOHEE.\u00a0 Application can be found here<\/span>, and under Teacher Resources on the MOHEE webpage<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0Deadline:<\/strong> End of March each year for the upcoming MOHEE in May.<\/span><\/p>\n
